Sienna Patti is pleased to announce Venetia Dale and Vincent Pontillo-Verrastro the recipients of the 2015 Emerging Artist Platform Award.
A bi-annual award recognizing merit, skill, and innovation, EAP offers emerging artists practical experience and the opportunity to be publicized, advertised and supported. Dale and Pontillo-Verrastro will each receive a solo exhibition at Sienna Patti with an accompanying catalog publication.
Venetia Dale is a Boston-based metalsmith and sculptor whose work explores shifts in utility, mobility and exchange. Dale received her MFA from State University of New York at New Paltz in 2009 and BFA at University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. She exhibits, lectures, curates and performs workshops nationally and internationally, and teaches at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Vincent Pontillo-Verrastro is an Assistant Professor of Art Metals at University of Wisconsin-Stout (Menomonie, WI) and received his MFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. His work examines the psychological and metaphoric properties of touch as primary to the experience of jewelry. Pontillo-Verrastro is also a recipient of the ALLIAGES Legacy Award and the Society of North American Goldsmiths Educational Endowment Scholarship.
This year’s award was juried by: Lauren Fensterstock (Artist / Critic, Rhode Island School of Design), Brett Littman (Executive Director, The Drawing Center), Michael Krichman (Executive Director, inSite), and Emily Zilber (Anita C. Wornick Curator of Contemporary Decorative Arts, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston).
