We are proud to announce that the Corning Museum of Glass has recently acquired Biba Schutz‘s Black Magic necklace (pictured) for the museum’s collection. Founded in 1951 CMOG is the most comprehensive and celebrated glass collection in the world and we are thrilled that Schutz work is in the collection. Awarded an artist residency at Corning in the spring of 2014, Schutz has been a practicing self-taught metalsmith and jeweler for more than 20 years.
on Schutz’s most recent exhibition, Half Full:
‘Schutz’s pieces offer space for contemplation and places to hide—a dance between what’s revealed and obscured, porous and dense, light reflected and absorbed. Light itself becomes a material, saturated within the glass and reflected outward. ‘
