One clover, and a bee.
A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, Mielle Harvey engages a multidisciplinary practice that includes painting, drawing, jewelry, and small sculpture. Her works explore the tension between life, mortality and the fragility of existence. Often depicting animals and nature in different stages of decomposition and transition, Harvey’s work is simultaneously intimate and universal. The exhibition One clover, and a bee includes two bodies of work from the past few years. Moments of Sky captures clouds, stilled and fragmented in small oil paintings – some carried on the body in flat snapshots as pendants and brooches. Bees, wasps and mushrooms in various gorgeous states of growth and decay make up the second group. Exhibited together there is a binding of earth and sky; we are reminded that all of nature is waxing and waning.
Harvey’s work can be seen in public and private collections around the world. This is her first exhibition at Sienna Patti Contemporary.
