Nel Linssen

Dutch, 1935-2016

Nel Linssen

Nel Linssen trained at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Arnhem as a textile artist, and started to make jewelry out of paper in 1986. Her approach to jewellery was both intuitive and empirical, yet it was founded on years of dedicated research and experimentation. Nel’s mastery of her medium conveys her deep understanding of materiality and process.  When worn, her pieces move fluidly with the body to reveal hidden colours, shadows, and forms. Seemingly simple creations belie their extraordinary technical and textural complexities.  Nel’s work is represented in leading design and jewellery collections around the world, including Museum of Modern Art, Arnhem; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums; Victoria & Albert Museum, London; Handwerkspflege Bayern, Munich; Brooklyn Museum, New York; Fonds National d’Arts Contemporain, Paris; Museum of Applied Art, Oslo; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas, USA; The National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; Musée des Arts Decoratifs, Montreal. PLEASE CONTACT THE GALLERY FOR AVAILABLE WORKS
