MADRID — The Loewe Foundation has announced its highly anticipated shortlist for the 2025 Craft Prize, selecting Caroline Broadhead as one of 30 artists from 18 countries out of more than 4,500 applicants. These finalists will showcase their work in an exhibition at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid from May 30 to June 29. The prize winner will be announced on May 29 during the exhibition’s opening ceremony. A jury of 13 distinguished figures in design, architecture, journalism, and museum curatorship will choose the winner, who will receive a $52,000 award.
Broadhead's submission, a necklace, 'uses thousands of tiny, vibrantly colored Japanese glass beads, threaded together using the peyote stitch, an ancient off-loom technique. Rolled paper is used as a guide to form the tubular links, and each link is made from 1500 beads, taking a day to create.’
