--- .\  ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

"Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them." A. A. Milne

Gabriella Kiss creates jewelry like composing a poem—line by line, form by form—until each piece hums with presence. Her work lives at the intersection of art and observation, scientific inquiry and quiet devotion, translating the structures and cycles of the natural world into gold, silver, and stone.

Trained as a sculptor at Pratt Institute and raised by a Hungarian research scientist, Kiss developed a reverence for nature’s systems early on. Her chosen method—lost-wax casting—allows her to carve each form by hand, slowly and with intention, before casting it in precious metal. Nothing is accidental; every detail is deliberate.

Her forms are often small but never slight: a bird skull, a seedpod, a curled serpent. These become meditations on mortality, fertility, and time. A ring might echo a vertebra, an earring the flutter of a leaf or wing. Kiss transforms the overlooked into the essential, inviting us to find meaning in quiet details.

There is no spectacle in her work. Her jewelry whispers. It asks to be seen slowly, worn close, and felt deeply. These are intimate objects—personal talismans that hold space for memory, change, and wonder.

In GARDEN, Kiss’s work feels elemental: not ornamental nature, but nature as truth. Her pieces dwell in the space between artifact and gesture, relic and adornment. To wear them is to engage with one’s own history, with the rhythms of life moving through us. Her work in this exhibition reminds us to slow down and look closer. To see how even the smallest forms can carry vast meaning. How beauty, like a breath or a bloom, is always becoming.
