“You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep spring from coming.” – Pablo Neruda

Christopher Thompson Royds turns the wildflowers of the English countryside into heirlooms of quiet beauty. Drawing from Victorian herbariums, botanical illustration, and the language of flowers, his Natura Morta series captures nature at its most delicate and gives it permanence.

The gold daisy works featured in GARDEN are part of this ongoing body of work. Each petal is hand-cut from 18k gold, assembled with precision, and designed to echo a bloom just picked—fresh, light, and glowing. Though intimate in scale, the pieces carry the full weight of a field in bloom: a memory, a moment, a feeling made wearable.

Trained at London’s Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins, Thompson Royds approaches jewelry like a naturalist and a poet. Some of his pieces are enclosed in archival boxes, recalling scientific specimens. Others, like the daisies, are meant to be worn, where their fragility becomes part of the story. His work invites us to ask what it means to preserve beauty, to carry nature with us, to honor the fleeting with gold.

Thompson Royds’ work is held in the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Schmuckmuseum in Pforzheim, and the National Museum of Scotland. In GARDEN, his daisies don’t just decorate—they remind. Of seasons, of softness, of the power of the small and wild.
