ACQUISITION
Mallory Weston .\ WOODMERE ART MUSEUM
PHILADELPHIA—We are pleased to announce that the Woodmere Art Museum has acquired Mallory Weston's 2024 neckpiece, Begonia Wormhole No. 1.
Mallory Weston's Begonia Wormhole series merges the botanical and the cosmic, transforming the delicate asymmetry of begonia leaves into portals that seem to fold space and time. Using anodized titanium, leather, and cotton thread, Weston builds layered, iridescent surfaces that shimmer like living matter. Each brooch or necklace oscillates between organic and other worldly - part plant, part celestial map - inviting the viewer to imagine growth, decay, and transformation as interconnected forces. In Begonia Wormhole, Weston continues her exploration of adornment as an expanded field: jewelry as both intimate ornament and speculative landscape.
