Sienna Patti Contemporary is incredibly proud to announce the acquisition of artist Sharon Church’s 2016 Catch Brooch by the Danner Foundation. This wonderful brooch will now reside in the Danner Rotunda at Munich’s Pinakothek der Moderne as part of the International Design Museum’s (Die Neue Sammlung) collection. Made of hand-carved pear wood, diamonds, and oxidized silver, this piece is an elegant and quintessential work by the artist.

"Sharon Church is a consummate jeweler whose work is admired for its poignant and evocative beauty. She describes herself as a carver, as subtractive methods are integral to her practice.  Virtuosity is evident in Sharon’s beautifully carved jewelry made of exotic woods, especially boxwood, because it so closely grained, and antler, which carves like ivory. Both are ultimately accented with diamonds and silver. Perfectly articulated by a silver structure based in movement and her college studies of sculpture, the work comes alive on the body."Myra Mimlitsch-Gray upon Sharon’s receipt of the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of North American Goldsmith.
